Historical Background	Long ago, the Association was known as 'Valee Soopramanier Darma Sangham' and was founded in 1928. On 9th January 1976, ammendments have been made and the association is known as 'Siva Soopramaniar Darooma Sangham.'

Historical Background	The history of the Kovil had begun in the year 1948 after the discovery of a cutting stone murthy/silei in the yard of the actual Kovil. After the discovery of the murthi, a canjee varthal poosai was organised and construction of the first Kovil in concrete structure began in the year 1948 and ended in 1952. The Maha Kumbabhisegam was performed that year. The history of the Kovil is closely linked to that of the ex-Mount Sugar Estate. Baktans who regularly participates in Kovil activities are from The Mount, D'epinay, Mon Gout, Pamplemousses, Calebasse, Mont Roche , etc.
